Learning, Education and Development

Whether you’re happy staying in one job or want to use your role as a stepping stone, AWP will support you in getting to where you want to be.

As a large employer, we are part of the wider NHS ‘family’ which has one of the biggest workforces in the world. Our aim is to help you thrive and develop with us while recognising the wider opportunities in the NHS too. We will support you in carrying out mandatory and statutory training (MAST) that is essential to your role. We will also encourage you to access a wide range of other opportunities known as ‘continuing professional development’ (CPD), which may include doing an apprenticeship, to build your portfolio of skills and knowledge.

A monthly catch-up and check-in is essential in helping people thrive at work. Alongside the day-to-day interactions, your manager will arrange to set aside time to talk to you regularly, including arranging your monthly one-to-one sessions, to review and support your progress.
